物理
From sub-atomic particles to the origin and structure of the universe, physics uses the language of mathematics to discover, 描述, and apply the fundamental laws of nature.
概述
The 物理 Program enhances students’ capacity for analysis, 合成, and inductive and deductive reasoning. 物理 students learn to plan and conduct scientific experiments and to communicate the concepts of physics in oral, 写, and mathematical form. A majority of physics majors participate in collaborative research with a faculty member. Our physics degree has also been particularly popular among students interested in engineering. Our students have gone on to study mechanical engineering, 运筹学, and systems engineering
Your Major Took You Where?
物理 majors have gone on to a variety of graduate programs and careers.

课程
Introductory courses include classroom demos, 实验室练习, and out-of-class discussions between students and faculty. The first two years will include intro physics plus courses in calculus and differential equations. The upper-level courses include advanced mechanics, 电子产品, magnetism and electricity, 光学, 量子力学, 热物理, and modern physics (a two-term course that includes relativity, 量子理论, 核物理, and solid-state physics).
